Take a drive through Midtown Manhattan and you might cross paths with towering, futuristic structures that look very much like next-century streetlights. But those modernistic, clunky pillars are actually high-speed, on-street charging systems called pantographs that can charge electric buses in just three to six minutes.

As urgency around climate action continues to grow, stakeholders across the global economy are looking for better ways to mobilize finance as part of a low-carbon transition.

Cadenza’s latest project is a prime example of multi-partner benefits. Last month, the Connecticut-based energy storage company unveiled a new battery storage project that uses an innovation in lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology, potentially enabling more integration of renewable energy resources onto the grid.

Beyond simpler changes like rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, other changes to federal energy policy and expenditure will be more complicated. With that in mind, bipartisanship was a common refrain during the panel.

“I think there’s a new sense of urgency to build that just and equitable economy,” said John Podesta, former White House Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton, at this week's Climate Jobs NY (CJNY) Summit.

According to the California Independent Service Operator (CAISO), smoke and ash spread led to a 20 percent reduction in solar panel output. With such annual and large blazes, which seemingly will only continue as climate change worsens, project developers may need to consider new technologies or even a more careful approach to siting, going forward.
